Privacy policy

Last updated: 22 August 2026

Tidewatch is a tower-defence game for iPhone and Android, made by one person. This policy explains what the game does with information. It is short because the game does very little.

The short version

Tidewatch does not collect your personal data. There are no adverts, no analytics, no trackers, no accounts, and no servers of ours for the game to talk to. Nothing you do in the game is sent to us or to anybody else.

What the game stores on your device

Tidewatch keeps your progress on your phone, in the app's own private storage, and nowhere else. That is:

  • which levels you have finished and how many stars you earned on each,
  • which upgrades you have bought with those stars, and which hints you have already seen,
  • your settings — sound and music volume, text size, reduced motion, colour options,
  • a save of a level you left part-way through, so you can carry on,
  • counts of levels started, levels won and enemies stopped,
  • which appearance (skin) you have chosen — every skin is free and yours from the start.

This information never leaves your phone. We cannot see it, and there is no way for us to ask for it. It is included in your device's own backup if you have iCloud or Google backup switched on — that backup is yours, held under Apple's or Google's terms, not ours.

Deleting the app deletes all of it. There is nothing else to erase and no request to send us, because we never had a copy.

Purchases — there are none

Tidewatch is free. The whole game — every level, every mode, every tower, upgrade and skin — is free, with no adverts, no paywall, no timers and no in-app purchases. Nothing in the app talks to Apple's or Google's payment systems, and there is nothing to restore.

If you enjoyed the game and want to buy me a coffee, the game may show a link that opens a separate website in your phone's browser. That site is run by a third party, not by the game; anything you enter there is handled under that site's own privacy policy, and the game neither sends it anything nor learns whether you visited. Buying a coffee unlocks nothing.

What the game does not do

  • No adverts, and no advertising SDK of any kind is in the app.
  • No analytics, no crash reporting, no attribution or install tracking.
  • No advertising identifier (no IDFA on iOS, no Advertising ID on Android).
  • No App Tracking Transparency prompt, because there is nothing to track.
  • No cookies, no fingerprinting, no location, no contacts, no photos, no microphone, no camera.
  • No accounts, no sign-in, no email list.
  • No data sold or shared with anyone, for any purpose, ever.

The only permission the Android version asks for is internet access, which it uses solely to open the links above in your browser; nothing else on the device is requested.

Children

Tidewatch is suitable for a general audience and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age. Because it collects nothing, there is nothing held about a child to request, correct or delete.

Your rights

Data-protection law — the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR, and equivalents elsewhere — gives you rights to see, correct, export and delete personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for those rights to reach. If you would like that confirmed in writing, ask at the address below and it will be confirmed.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the date at the top changes with it, and a material change is noted in the app's release notes. Earlier versions of this page are kept in the game's source repository.
